History

A one-mile turf race first run in 1938, the Shoemaker Mile was run at Hollywood Park until the track was closed in 2013 when it switched to Santa Anita Park. Renamed for jockey Bill Shoemaker, the race is open to 3-year-olds and older and has been won by J.O. Tobin (when it was run on dirt), Clever Song, The Tin Man, Thorn Song and Obviously.
