Peter M. Brant

Peter Brant re-entered the horse business in 2016 after nearly 20 years away and quickly re-established a reputation as one of the sport’s prominent owners. He returned to the top of the game in 2018 as the owner of star turf filly Sistercharlie, who won three Grade 1 races that year including the Maker’s Mark Filly and Mare Turf.

Brant, who build a fortune in the paper mill industry, as a magazine publisher, as an art collector, and through other interests, first became involved in the Thoroughbred industry during the 1970s and campaigned horses such as Just a Game, Waya, and Gulch. Gulch gave him his first Breeders’ Cup win in the 1988 Sprint. Brant was also the breeder of 1995 Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes winner Thunder Gulch.

Brant is also a former high-level polo player and a longtime supporter of that sport.
