Hector Isaac Berrios

Hector Isaac Berrios first made a name for himself as a jockey at Gulfstream Park in Florida but later earned breakout success when he moved his tack to Southern California in 2022. At his first SoCal meet he won 18 races and finished fifth in the jockey standings at the 2022 Del Mar summer meet with purse earnings of $1.3 million. Berrios became a mainstay in the SoCal jockey standings in 2022, and in 2023 he rode more than 90 winners on the circuit with purse earnings in the neighborhood of $7 million. 

Berrios established himself aboard several stakes winners along the way. Some of Berrios' top mounts have come aboard The Chosen Vron in the 2023 Grade 1 Bing Crosby Stakes at Del Mar, and Blue Stripe, who won the 2022 Grade 1 Clement L. Hirsch Stakes at Del Mar en route to a second-place finish in the 2022 Breeders' Cup Distaff. Some of Berrios' other stakes winners have included Quattroelle, Dreamfyre, and Planetario.

Berrios continued to establish himself both in California and nationally in 2023 and 2024, winning a pair of Grade 1s with top West Coast sprinter The Chosen Vron. And in fall 2025, Berrios tallied three top-level wins with Intrepido in the American Pharoah Presented by DK Horse, Baeza in the Pennsylvania Derby, and Super Corredora in the NetJets Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Filles – the jockey’s first win in the World Championships.
