Midnight Storm won the 2014 Del Mar Derby to cap his 3-year-old season with a Grade 2 victory. He finished second as a 4-year-old in 2015 in the Grade 1 Shoemaker Mile Stakes.
In 2016 as a 5-year-old, Midnight Storm reeled off three consecutive wins, tallying a half-length win in the Shoemaker Mile before winning the Grade 2 Eddie Read on opening weekend at Del Mar. He then scored again in the Grade 2 Del Mar Mile Handicap to punch his ticket to the Breeders' Cup Mile.
