After beginning his career in Ireland, Hunt earned his first stakes win in the U.S. in June 2016 in the Siren Lure Stakes at Santa Anita Park. He earned his first graded stakes win in July 2017 at Del Mar when he overhauled Ashleyluvssugar to win the Grade 2 Eddie Read Stakes. He followed with an impressive victory in the Del Mar Handicap Presented by The Japan Racing Association. That win as part of the Breeders' Cup "Win and You're In" Challenge Series earned Hunt an automatic berth in the Longines Breeders' Cup Turf.

After finishing a disappointing last of 13 in the Breeders’ Cup Turf, Hunt returned with a game nose win in the Grade 2 Seabiscuit Handicap on Del Mar’s closing day of its fall meet.
Hunt did not make his first start of 2018 until May 28, Memorial Day. Again targeting the Breeders’ Cup, he faced a talented field in the Grade 1 Shoemaker Mile Stakes at Santa Anita and scored a game neck win over favorite Heart to Heart to earn an automatic berth in the Breeders’ Cup Mile at Churchill Downs.
