Du Jour

Switched back to the turf for his third career start, on Feb. 19, 2021 at Santa Anita Park, Du Jour stalked the pace and drew off to a strong 2 1/2 length in a one-mile maiden special weight race. Flavien Prat had the winning mount, for trainer Bob Baffert.

After a win in a first-level allowance on Mar. 28 at Santa Anita, Du Jour made his graded stakes debut in the Grade 2 American Turf Stakes Presented by Derby City Gaming at Churchill Downs on May 1. Prat saved ground with him just off the pace, then angled wide and burst through in the stretch to win going away, covering 1 1/16 miles on turf in 1:42.49.

Du Jour took at extended layoff from December 2021 until February 2023 and wasted no time getting back in against quality stakes competition upon his return. He recorded back-to-back runner-up finishes in the Grade 3 Thunder Road Stakes and in the Grade 1 Kilroe Mile on March 4. Du Jour got back to the winner's circle for the first time since 2021 when he won the $100,000 Wickerr Stakes going one mile on the turf on July 23 at Del Mar.

Du Jour further bolstered his turf mile credentials in his next start, which was a victory in the Grade 2 $300,000 Del Mar Mile on Sept. 2.  Du Jour came from off the pace in a 10-horse field, made a decisive move to the lead in the stretch, and powered away from the rest of the field for a 2 1/4-length win in a time of 1:33.82 on firm turf.

Du Jour is sired by Temple City, out of the Bernardini mare Guiltless, and sold for $280,000 at the OBS sale in 2020.
