The Jim Dandy Stakes is the traditional prep for Saratoga's Travers Stakes, the mid-summer derby. Both races are for 3-year-olds, and the Jim Dandy is usually held in late July or early August. The $600,000 race is contested at 1 1/8 miles on the dirt.
