Run over seven furlongs on dirt at Saratoga since 1979, the Ballerina is open to fillies and mares 3 and older. A whose-who of fillies have won the race with Davona Dale, Lady's Secret, Stop Traffic, Dubai Escapade, Maryfield, Music Note, Hilda's Passion, Turbulent Descent and Unbridled Forever all winning the race. Shine Again is the only filly to win the Ballerina twice. The Ballerina is a "Win and You're In" race for the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint.
