Charles E. Fipke

Charles Fipke lives in British Columbia and has been active in racing in Canada and North America since 1981. In 1991, Fipke discovered one of the largest diamond mines in Canada in 1991, of which he later named horse Tale of Ekati after, who finished fourth in the 2007 Kentucky Derby. Among Fipke's other success in racing is his victory in the 2011 Emirates Airline Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf with Perfect Shirl.

In 2013, Fipke campaigned Java's War, who punched his ticket to Churchill for the Kentucky Derby after an impressive last to first finish in Keeneland's Blue Grass Stakes (Grade 1), a key prep race for the Derby. Fipke also sent homebred Golden Soul to the Kentucky Derby as one of only two owners to have more than one horse running in the 2013 Kentucky Derby. Golden Soul proved he belonged when he finished runner-up to Orb.

In 2014 Fipke's homebred Unbridled Forever finished third in the Kentucky Oaks, later winning the Grade 1 Ballerina Stakes, and in 2015 her full sister Forever Unbridled also ran in the Oaks. Also in 2015, Fipke's Tale of Verve finished second in the Preakness Stakes.

Forever Unbridled won multiple Grade 1 races for Fipke in 2016 and 2017 and became his second Breeders' Cup winner in the 2017 Distaff.
