Come Dancing

Come Dancing won her career debut impressively in November 2016 at Aqueduct, but she did not race again until November of her 3-year-old season when she led from start to finish in a 6 ½-length victory in an allowance race at Aqueduct.

She was unplaced in January 2018 in her stakes debut in the Interborough Stakes but rebounded to post another runaway win on July 25 at Saratoga, where she rallied from off the pace to prevail by 4 ½ lengths in an allowance race. She subsequently set the pace in the Shine Again Stakes later at the Saratoga meet before fading late to finish fourth.

On Sept. 9, 2018, Come Dancing secured her first career stakes win. Stretching out to 1 1/16 miles on a sloppy track at Belmont Park, Come Dancing set the pace, opened up a commanding lead in the stretch, and rolled to a 6 ¼-length victory. Stepping up to Grade 1 competition for her next start, Come Dancing faded late to finish fifth in the Ballerina Stakes in October. She closed her 4-year-old season with a runner-up finish by a neck to Marley’s Freedom in the Grade 3 Go for Wand Handicap on Dec. 1 at Aqueduct.

Come Dancing made her 5-year-old bow in the Grade 3 Distaff Handicap on April 5 at Aqueduct and led from start to finish in another runaway victory, winning by 7 3/4 lengths to record her first career graded stakes win. She next returned in the one-mile, Grade 2 Ruffian Stakes at Belmont Park and romped by 6 3/4 lengths on May 6 to extend her graded stakes winning streak to two. Come Dancing subsequently finished second in the Grade 1 Ogden Phipps Handicap to top older female Midnight Bisou. She cut back in distance from 1 1/16 miles to seven furlongs in the Grade 1 Ketel One Ballerina Stakes and regained her winning form. Come Dancing overcame a terrible start in the Ballerina by unleashing a powerful rally to seize command in early stretch before streaking clear to win by 3 ½ lengths.

Come Dancing continued to compete at the peak of her ability in her next start, scoring an easy 3 ¼-length win in the Grade 2 Gallant Bloom Handicap on Sept. 22 at Belmont Park as the 1-4 favorite. She endured a four-race losing streak after the Gallant Bloom however, lasting into summer 2020, with her best finish during that span a second behind longshot Victim of Love in the Vagrancy Handicap June 27 at Belmont. Two starts later, Come Dancing got back to the winner’s circle with a three-quarter length win in the Grade 2 Honorable Miss Handicap Sept. 6 at Saratoga.
