Run at 1 1/8 miles (9 furlongs) on the turf for 3-year-old fillies, the Providencia Stakes has been run at Santa Anita every year since 1981. Now with a purse of $150,000, the race has been won twice by four owners and two jockeys twice each with trainer Gary Jones the all-time winner of the race with four wins including back-to-back wins in 1991 and 1992. The race has been won by fillies such as Sweet Life, Megaherz and Ticker Tape.
