Antonio Fresu, a native of Italy, emerged as a leading jockey on the Southern California circuit during 2023. He began his riding career in his home country and also competed in Dubai before moving to the U.S., and immediately found success at Santa Anita Park, Del Mar, and Los Alamitos.
Fresu earned his first graded stakes win aboard Chatalas in the Grade 2 Chandelier Stakes Oct. 7, 2023, at Santa Anita. In spring 2024, he secured his first mount for the Kentucky Derby when Stronghold won the Santa Anita Derby.
