Fatale Bere won his first two of three starts in her native France before shipping to California in fall 2017. The Pedro the Great filly won her first start in the U.S., the listed Surfer Girl Stakes at Del Mar, and then finished fifth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf and eighth in the Jimmy Durante Stakes.
Fatale Bere won his first two of three starts in her native France before shipping to California in fall 2017. The Pedro the Great filly won her first start in the U.S., the listed Surfer Girl Stakes at Del Mar, and then finished fifth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf and eighth in the Jimmy Durante Stakes.
She returned at age three for trainer Leonard Powell in the Grade 3 Providencia Stakes at Santa Anita Park on April 7 and powered clear late to pick up her first graded stakes win by 1 ½ lengths. Fatale Bere subsequently ran seventh in the Grade 2 Honeymoon Stakes, which was followed by a sixth-place finish in the Grade 1 Belmont Oaks Invitational Stakes. She regained her top form with a fast-closing victory in the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks Presented by The Jockey Club, catching runner-up Ollie's Candy in the final strides.
