A 1 ¼ mile race on turf for 3-year-olds, the Secretariat Stakes is one of three Grade 1 races on Arlington Million weekend at Arlington Park. The race has seen some of the top turf 3-year-olds on the winner’s list in recent years with Kitten’s Joy,, Showing Up, Paddy O’Prado, Adelaide and Highland Reel all winning since 2000. In that same period, Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien has won the race four times including three times in six years from 2011 to 2015 with U.S. based rider Kent Desormeaux winning three times since 2000.
