Woody Stephens Stakes

Inaugurated in 1985 and named after Hall of Fame trainer Woody Stephens, the Woody Stephens Stakes is run at seven furlongs on the dirt for 3-year-olds. Trainer D. Wayne Lukas is the winningest trainer in the race’s history with four victories while trainer Jerry Bailey has the most wins of any jockeys with three each. You and I ran the fastest edition of the race in 1:20.33 in 1994 with horses such as Ogygian, Fly So Free, Montbrook, Smoke Glacken, Yes It’s True, Lost in the Fog, Trinniberg and Bayern also winning the race.
