Named after champion Vagrancy, the Vagrancy Handicap was first run in 1948 at Aqueduct. Now run at Belmont Park going 6 ½ furlongs on dirt for fillies and mares four and up, the most recent champion to win the Vagrancy is La Verdad (2015). Both John Velazquez and Angel Cordero, Jr. lead all jockeys with four wins each and Allen Jerkens leads all trainers with five wins. Notable horses who have won the Vagrancy include Cicada (1963), Affectionately (1965), Honorable Miss (1975), Sky Beauty (1994-1995), Xtra Heat (2002) and Dubai Escapade (2006).
