One of six Grade 1 races taking place on Belmont Stakes day June 6 at Saratoga Race Course is the $500,000 Jaipur Stakes, a turf sprint contested at 5 ½ furlongs.
Despite its Grade 1 status, there’s only one previous Grade 1 winner among the entries: #6 Ag Bullet (3-1). The six-year-old mare has competed with aplomb against top competition, including males, and looms as the one to beat.
Ag Bullet rose to prominence in 2024 when she won the Grade 3 Monrovia Stakes and Grade 2 Exacta Systems Ladies Turf Sprint Stakes. At the end of the season, she finished third by a neck against males in the Grade 1 Prevagen Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint and third in the Grade 1 Matriarch Stakes navigating a one-mile distance very likely longer than ideal.
In 2025, Ag Bullet was better than even. She won the Jaipur by two lengths over #10 My Boy Prince (5-1), scored another win in the Ladies Turf Sprint, and then ran second in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint and third in the Matriarch.
Ag Bullet hasn’t raced since November, but sharp workouts at Santa Anita Park suggest she’s ready for a strong showing in her 2026 debut. A top-two finish at Saratoga appears likely.
My Boy Prince is a logical challenger once again. He’s been sharp in four turf sprints this season. In April, he scored a comfortable win in the Grade 2 Valvoline Global Shakertown Stakes before finishing fourth (beaten by only half a length) in the Grade 2 Twin Spires Turf Sprint Stakes Presented by Accenture. He was compromised by a slow early pace in the latter race, but still gained a lot of ground to fall just short of victory.
If anyone can upset Ag Bullet, it might be #5 Reef Runner (4-1). He finished only 1 1/2 lengths behind Ag Bullet when fourth in last year’s Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, and he recently enjoyed a productive campaign in the Middle East, winning the Group 2 1351 Turf Sprint in Saudi Arabia and finishing a close fourth in the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint in Dubai.
Reef Runner has turned in four fast workouts since the beginning of May and has a big chance to shine at Saratoga, especially if Ag Bullet is short of peak form in her first race of 2026.
Depending on your budget, we recommend betting exacta and perhaps trifecta tickets favoring Ag Bullet and Reef Runner on top while adding My Boy Prince for second and third place.
