A Louisville, Ky. native, Weaver started out as a hot walker for trainer Mark Hennig. He took out his trainer's license in 2002 after working as an assistant to Hall of Famer D. Wayne Lukas and Todd Pletcher.
Weaver earned his first Grade 1 win in 2013 when Lighthouse Bay won the Prioress Stakes. Other top horses trained by Weaver include Isotherm, Falling Sky and Saratoga County.

In 2019, Weaver-trained Vekoma earned a berth in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve with a win in the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes. The colt finished 12th in the Derby but in 2020 earned two Grade 1 wins for Weaver in the Runhappy Metropolitan Handicap, aka the “Met Mile,” and the Runhappy Carter Handicap.
Weaver enjoyed success in the early to mid-2020s with Grade 1 winners Sacred Wish and Dorth Vader. And in 2025 he earned his first Breeders’ Cup win when the filly Cy Fair captured the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint.
