Inaugurated in 1887, the Gazelle is run at 1 1/8 miles on dirt for 3-year-old fillies at Aqueduct. Run in the fall for many years, it was shifted to the first week of April in 2013 to become a Kentucky Oaks prep. Jockeys Javier Castellano and Angel Cordero Jr. are tied at four wins each for most wins by a jockey while Sunny Fitzsimmons and Shug McGaughey are tied for the most wins by a trainer with six each.
