Majestic Prince: A Racehorse Who Lived Up to His Name
2026 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes at a Glance
Racing
There may not be a Triple Crown for 3-year-old fillies, but at least there’s the George E. Mitchell Black-Eyed Susan Stakes to complement this weekend’s Preakness. Contested at Laurel Park in 2026, the Black-Eyed Susan will provide an opportunity for 3-year-old fillies who missed the Kentucky Oaks to pick up Grade 2 stakes laurels.
1. Miss Fulton Gal (30-1 morning-line odds): She has plenty of experience on the track, with two wins and two seconds in six starts at Laurel. Has yet to run in a graded stakes and seems to lack the class and speed figures to pull off a victory.
JOCKEY: John Velazquez; TRAINER: Michael Gorham
2. Ivy Girl (15-1): Won the Weber City Miss Stakes, a prep race on this track for the Black-Eyed Susan. Seems to be getting better but hard to overlook a 21 ½-length loss in her lone graded stakes try.
JOCKEY: Victor Carrasco; TRAINER: Amelia Green
3. Holly’s Holiday (6-1): Has taken some nice steps forward lately. Comes off a stakes win at Oaklawn Park and has a tactical running style that should make her a threat.
JOCKEY: Flavien Prat; TRAINER: Ken McPeek
4. Savor It (30-1): Won an allowance-optional claimer at Parx Racing last time, but was clobbered in her two appearances in stakes company.
JOCKEY: Mychel Sanchez; TRAINER: Uriah St. Lewis
5. Braken Poppa (7-2): Has won four in a row, including two stakes in solid clockings against Louisiana-breds at Fair Grounds. She will get tested for class here.
JOCKEY: Jose Ortiz; TRAINER: Steve Asmussen
6. Haute Diva (15-1): Was not a factor in Grade 2 stakes in her last two starts. Would be helped by a fast pace, but there is not a ton of speed in the race.
JOCKEY: Keith Asmussen; TRAINER: Patrick Biancone
7. Jumping the Gun (3-1): Has never been worse than third, though her first third-place finish came last time in the Weber City Miss Stakes. That was her first start in four months, so she seems capable of taking a step forward here.
JOCKEY: Luis Saez; TRAINER: Andrew Simoff
8. Majestic Lucia (12-1): Has won her last two starts since Victor Barboza Jr. took over the training duties. Could be a factor if she can avoid a wide trip.
JOCKEY: Junior Alvarado; TRAINER: Victor Barboza Jr.
9. A. P.’s Girl (5-1): Was a game second in the Weber City Miss Stakes and gets Irad Ortiz Jr. in the saddle. That’s a major plus.
JOCKEY: Irad Ortiz Jr.; TRAINER: Peter Eurton
10. My Miss Mo (7-2): Scratched out of the Longines Kentucky Oaks to run here. Was second in both the Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Oaks Presented by City National Bank and Davona Dale Stakes Presented by Inglis Digital USA. If she runs back to those efforts, she will be hard to beat here.
JOCKEY: Tyler Gaffalione; TRAINER: Saffie Joseph Jr.
THE PICK: My Miss Mo
LIVE LONGSHOT: Holly’s Holiday
