National Treasure (121) and Senor Buscador (121) share the top spot in the first edition of the Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings for 2024.

National Treasure and Senor Buscador both began their 2024 campaigns in the Pegasus World Cup Invitational presented by Baccarat in January, and National Treasure defeated Senor Buscador by a neck. 

Following that effort, they both travelled to the Middle East to compete in the $20 million Saudi Cup. Senor Buscador raced at the back of the field for the majority of the race before rallying to defeat Ushba Tesoro (120) by a head. Saudi Crown (119) was another three-quarters of a length back in third, while National Treasure was 1 ¾ length behind the winner in fourth. 

Ushba Tesoro is in the co-second position in the rankings, along with three other horses. Romantic Warrior (120) started the year with a victory in the Group 1 Citi Hong Kong Gold Cup, which he won by a neck over Voyage Bubble (119). Rebel’s Romance (120) also began his 2024 season in winning fashion, taking the H H The Amir Trophy by three lengths. Meanwhile, Private Eye (120) is ranked after finishing second by a head to Imperatriz (119) in the Black Caviar Lightning.
