First run in 1997, the Shakertown Stakes at Keeneland was first run as The Minstrel Stakes before its name was changed to Shakertown Stakes after a local Shaker community. The race is run on the turf course at a distance of 5 ½ furlongs for horses 4-years and older and Soaring Free is the only horse to have won it more than once. Tom Amoss and Mark Frostad lead all trainers with wins in the race with two apiece and jockey Shane Sellers has won the race three-times as the winningest jockey with Perfect Officer running the fastest edition of the race in 2012.
