Bound for Nowhere

Bound for Nowhere won the first two races of his career by a combined margin of 10 ¼ lengths, posting dominant victories on the synthetic surface at Turfway Park and then on the grass at Keeneland. The promising start to his career prompted Bound for Nowhere’s connections to send him to Royal Ascot to face some of the top turf sprinters in the world in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup, in which he finished fourth, beaten by 4 ¼ lengths. He subsequently was unplaced in a Group 1 race in France in his final start of 2017.

The bay colt returned at Turfway for his 4-year-old bow and won an allowance race that proved an ideal steppingstone to a runaway win in the Grade 2 Shakertown Stakes at Keeneland on April 7.

He then shipped overseas to contest the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot for Ward, and fought gamely to hold third in the six-furlong turf sprint after setting the early pace, losing by three-quarters of a length.

Bound For Nowhere returned to the U.S. and easily won the Tourist Mile Stakes at Kentucky Downs before stepping up in class in a loaded edition of the Grade 1 Shadwell Turf Mile at Keeneland. He faded to finish 11^th in that race and was given a break through the winter by Ward before comping back to attempt a repeat win in the Grade 2 Shakertown Stakes at Keeneland. Bound For Nowhere took a clear lead into the stretch of the 5 ½-furlong turf sprint, but settled for second behind a rallying Imprimis.

After an unplaced finish in a Group 1 race at Royal Ascot in June, Bound for Nowhere closed out his 5-year-old season with a victory in an allowance-optional claiming race in October 2019 at Belmont Park.

Bound for Nowhere made only two starts in 2020, running second by a head in the Grade 3 San Simeon Stakes in March and then finishing third by a neck in the rescheduled (COVID-19) Grade 2 Shakertown Stakes at Keeneland in July.

Making his 7-year-old debut in the Shakertown April 3, 2021, at Keeneland, Bound for Nowhere earned a second win in the race by closing powerfully to catch familiar foe Imprimis in the closing strides of a thrilling edition of the race.

Bound for Nowhere started his 2022 season with a win in an allowance optional claiming race at Fair Grounds on March 19, 2022. A few months later, he won the Grade 2 Highlander Stakes at Woodbine by a length on July 2, following a traffic-filled trip. 

Bound for Nowhere's dam (mother), Fancy Deed, is a half-sister to champion sprinter and two-time Breeders' Cup Sprint victor Midnight Lute.
