Pigskins and Ponies

The face of ABR's "Racing 101", Joe Kristufek (@JoeyDaKracing) is a self-proclaimed horse racing "ambassador," and fan development has been his passion since the moment he took his first job in the industry.

Kristufek is paddock host for Churchill Downs, the home of the Kentucky Derby, and is a fan development specialist for Horse Racing Nation

Kristufek is the morning-line maker for Arlington Park and Kentucky Downs and he serves as the handicapper and racing writer for the Daily Herald newspaper.

Kristufek has developed and executed several horse racing-related, fan-education projects both online and onsite and he is a member of the National Turf Writers and Broadcasters.

He has co-owned five horses in partnership and is the process of developing an ownership group of his own. Kristufek is also becoming an increasing presence on the tournament scene.

NASTANOVICH

Bob Nastanovich (@BNastanovich) has been regularly attending college football games since the early 1970s. As the son of an offensive and defensive end for Colgate, Nastanovich developed a fondness for underdogs as a boy. He attended Virginia and was there for that school’s Golden Age of football under coach George Welsh.

After college, Nastanovich joined the rock group Pavement as a percussionist, singer and keyboardist. The band’s success allowed him to explore Thoroughbred breeding and ownership. As an owner, he has won races at Churchill Downs, Keeneland Race Course, Oaklawn Park and many others. In addition, he has worked a wide variety of jobs in racing, including chart calling for Equibase and writing for Daily Racing Form.

Nastanovich is a hard-core sports fan who handicaps horse racing and sports on a constant basis. He does not feel comfortable unless he has “action.”
