It’s time for opening weekend at Santa Anita Park! The SoCal stalwart officially opens on Friday, with Saturday’s program boasting a number of key races on the road to the 2025 Breeders’ Cup World Championships.

With the 10-race program comes plenty of opportunities to take swings. Here, we’ll take a look at a few horses expected to go off at decent prices who could outrun their odds. Let’s dive in!

Live racing at Santa Anita Park returns this week with a blockbuster Saturday of racing, featuring five graded stakes races headlined by the Goodwood Stakes (formerly known as the Awesome Again Stakes and California Crown Stakes Presented by SirDavis Whisky).

When it comes to Mindframe’s last “race,” it’s a matter of perspective.

Technically, the 4-year-old’s most recent start was in the Aug. 31 Jockey Club Gold Cup Stakes at Saratoga Race Course, when he did not finish first or second for the only time in his eight-race career.

Each week a panel of media members, horseplayers, and Breeders’ Cup World Championships officials release a poll tabulating their votes on the nation's top contenders for the 2025 Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic. The rankings are a weekly rating of the top 10 horses in contention and are determined by each voter ranking their top 10 horses with points assigned on a descending 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis.

As fall officially begins, the North American horse racing schedule enters the heart of the Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series, with multiple preps scheduled over the next two weeks at tracks around the U.S. Five are scheduled for this upcoming weekend, four of them held at Santa Anita Park during that track’s kickoff to its autumn meet.
