
Trainer Mark Casse Not Worried About Quick Preakness Turnaround with Sandman
After a dominant win in the Hill ‘n’ Dale Metropolitan Handicap, National Treasure sits in a tie for fourth place with U.S.-based Senor Buscador in the latest Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings, released June 13. Each has a rating of 121 along with three horses trained overseas: Notable Speech, Romantic Warrior, and White Birch.
National Treasure won the Met Mile by 6 ¼ lengths June 8 in his third start of 2024. He previously won the Pegasus World Cup Invitational presented by Baccarat in January and finished fourth in the Saudi Cup – won by Senor Buscador – in March. Senor Buscador finished second to National Treasure in the Pegasus World Cup and most recently ran third in the Dubai World Cup Sponsored by Emirates Airline.
Dubai World Cup winner Laurel River, formerly based in the U.S., ranks first in the rankings with 128 points, followed by English Derby winner City of Troy and Rebel’s Romance, who is undefeated in three starts this year and won the Dubai Sheema Classic, with 123.
