The 2025 Preakness Stakes May 17 in Baltimore marked a milestone edition of the race as well as the end of an era at Pimlico Race Course. This year marked the 150th edition of the middle jewel of U.S. horse racing’s Triple Crown and it also will be the final event held at the old facility at Old Hilltop. After the 2025 Preakness Stakes, Pimlico will be razed to make way for a sparkling new facility, marking the start of a new era of racing in Maryland. Construction of the new building is scheduled for completion in 2027, when the Preakness will return to a reimagined Pimlico.

Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve runner-up Journalism battled through traffic and adversity in the stretch to prevail in the $2 million Preakness.

Eclipse Sportswire was on hand to capture images that convey the magic of this milestone event.
