A Classy Champion, 1989 Belmont Stakes Winner Easy Goer
Victory Drink of the Month: Belle Vodka’s Southern Belle, the ideal winner’s circle cocktail!
The Race: Ricoh Woodbine Mile Stakes
The Venue: Woodbine Racetrack
The Date: Sept. 14, 2019
The Winner: El Tormenta
The Toast: To the biggest upset in the history of the Woodbine Mile. Got Stormy was the center of attention heading into this “Win and You’re In” race for the Nov. 2 TVG Breeders’ Cup Mile, but local hero El Tormenta defeated the super filly by a half-length at odds of 44.70-1 with leading Woodbine rider Eurico Rosa Da Silva in the irons. The win was Da Silva’s first in the prestigious Woodbine Mile and comes several weeks before he will retire from the sport. Watch the replay here.
After the Race: The go-to cocktail for watching primetime college football with friends, preferably a game from the greatest conference in the world – the Southeastern!
What’s Next: No horse racing event channels the spirit of big-time college football like Keeneland’s fall meet in Lexington. Come for the early tailgate parties, and stay for some of the best Thoroughbred racing in North America, including key “Win and You’re In” races for the Breeders’ Cup World Championships.
