Eurico Rosa da Silva is a Brazilian native who was very successful in his home country before heading north to ride in Canada. He found immediate success and has since ridden both the 2009 and 2010 Queen's Plate winners, Eye of the Leopard (2009) and Big Red Mike (2010).
Eurico Rosa da Silva is a Brazilian native who was very successful in his home country before heading north to ride in Canada. He found immediate success and has since ridden both the 2009 and 2010 Queen's Plate winners, Eye of the Leopard (2009) and Big Red Mike (2010).
Da Silva won the Sovereign Award as outstanding Canadian jockey in 2010 and 2013 and then in four consecutive years, from 2015-18. He earned his first career Grade 1 win in 2013 aboard Forte Dei Marmi in the Northern Dancer Turf Stakes and later that year took the Grade 1 Darley Alcibiades with My Conquestadory. Da Silva also won multiple stakes with Canadian champion Fatal Bullet, with whom he finished second in the 2008 Sentient Jet Breeders Cup Sprint.
In 2019, Da Silva announced that he would retire at the end of Woodbine's meet. He won his first Ricoh Woodbine Mile that September aboard longshot El Tormenta.
