Trainer Wesley Ward had the confidence to ship talented 3-yer-old turf sprinter Bacio to England for a start at the prestigious Royal Ascot meet, and when the Maclean’s Music colt dominated by 3 ¾ lengths his trainer found an even tougher challenge. Tested in the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes at York against many of the best turf sprinters in Europe, Bacio aced the challenge with a 1 1/4 -length victory.
Now back in the U.S., the colt Ward calls “the fastest horse in the world” will try for his fourth win in as many starts this season in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint Oct. 31 at his home track, Keeneland Race Course.
