Kinza was a runaway five-length winner of the Grade 2 Santa Ysabel Stakes March 9 and should be a formidable favorite in the Santa Anita Oaks on Saturday. (BENOIT photo)

The top 3-year-old filly on the West Coast should emerge Saturday in the Santa Anita Oaks but that doesn’t mean the race will have major Longines Kentucky Oaks implications. Of the five fillies entered, two are trained by Bob Baffert, whose horses are ineligible to run at Churchill Downs. That means the other three starters can collect Kentucky Oaks qualifying points, but whether they will pick up enough to earn a ticket to Louisville for the May 3 race is the big question mark.

First held: 1935

1. Nothing Like You (6-1 morning-line odds): One of  the two Baffert-trained fillies in the field. She showed little in February against stablemate Kinza in the Las Virgenes Stakes, losing by nearly 12 ¾ lengths. Hard to envision her making up that much ground here.

JOCKEY: Frankie Dettori; TRAINER: Bob Baffert

2. Kinza (4-5): Looks like the one to beat. Baffert’s undefeated filly by Carpe Diem has won all three of her starts by a combined margin of  14 ½ lengths. After winning the Las Virgenes, she took the March 9 Santa Ysabel Stakes at today’s distance by an even bigger margin of five lengths. Has enough speed to grab the early lead and most likely will not look back from there.

JOCKEY: Juan Hernandez; TRAINER: Bob Baffert

3. Kopion (9-5): She was second to Kinza by two lengths in the Las Virgenes after chasing the winner throughout. Looks like she’ll be the main rival once again in what may be a two-horse battle to the finish line.

JOCKEY: Mike Smith; TRAINER: Richard Mandella

4. Ifuaintfirsturlast (50-1): Was pulled up in the Santa Ysabel after being sent off at 83.20-1 odds. More likely to be last than first.

JOCKEY: Tyler Baze; TRAINER: Val Brinkerfhoff

5. Corposo (4-1): Comes off a narrow maiden win in her second career start. Should handle the extra sixteenth of a mile here but will need to take a big jump forward in speed figures to be a threat to the top two.

JOCKEY: Diego Herrera; TRAINER: Peter Eurton

THE PICK: Kinza

LIVE LONGSHOT: Corposo
