Irad has won a number of racing honors including the Shoemaker Award, an ESPY for being the best jockey in America and, most recently, won an Eclipse Award as last year’s outstanding rider in North America. His first big Kentucky Derby opportunity came with Mohaymen who finished a solid fourth in 2016. He later rode in Texas and then moved to Kentucky in 2014 where he won three straight races at Churchill Downs in September. This will be his first Kentucky Derby start and he'll ride a longshot in Bodexpress, who is a maiden (the horse has never won a race).
