all in Triple Crown

Some of the winter season’s best dirt racing is coming to the Midwest with the opening of the Oaklawn Park 2024-’25 meet on Friday, Dec. 6. Racing at Oaklawn boasts big fields, good betting races for handicappers, an excellent stakes program, and very strong purses throughout its five-month season that will extend until Kentucky Derby day, May 3.

The Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes serves a dual purpose for 2-year-olds. It will reward the top five finishers with 10-5-3-2-1 qualifying points toward a start in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve.

The Grade 2, $400,000 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes features a field of 10 vying for important “Road to the Derby” qualifying points as well as excellent prize money.

Now that horse racing’s unofficial “second season” has wrapped up with the conclusion of the 41st Breeders’ Cup World Championships, it’s time for sprouts of the “first season” to bloom in a sport that has no letup.

The Gulfstream Park 2024-’25 Championship Meet runs from Nov. 28 to March 30 and will bring together the best trainers, jockeys, grass horses, and stakes action at this time of year all into one must-bet meet for horseplayers and handicappers throughout the winter season.
