Film producer Jasper Grey recently dived deep into the exciting world of horse racing when visiting Santa Anita Park, and America’s Best Racing was on hand for the experience. Learn more about Grey in this fun Q&A:

My introduction to horse racing occurred when: My friend Jamie Reidy introduced me to the ABR team and Santa Anita park. Thanks Jamie!

What I do for a living: I run an independent management company called Vendetta Management for writers and directors in the film and television industry.

What I like about Thoroughbred racing: I work with and bet on talent for a living. Thoroughbred racing keys into the same passion and skills except in a stadium situation with thousands of others doing the same thing right then and there. It's electric.

Best advice I ever received: Seven years. Everyone I work with knows this bit of advice because I stole it and pass it off to anyone starting out. I sold my first project right after college and didn't understand why the movie wasn't made right there and then. I took a bunch of mentors out for coffee and one of them said "If you're going to give up on a project before you've spent seven years on it, you shouldn't have started on it." For me and the talent I represent, conviction is everything. If we can't answer "why we're working on something" that's a big sign we look at.

Most influential person in my career: My parents. Both of them were artists turned executives in the film industry, and growing up I saw the best and worst of both sides. I come from good, hard-working, honest people who look for win-win situations and that's a rarity in the industry. Unfortunately, my parents were shafted pretty hard by the “other” type of people.  People always ask why my company is named "Vendetta", and then "do you have a vendetta?" The answer is resolutely: yes, against every bad business practitioner in the industry. It's time to change the way things work, and put good, honest people back in power.

My out-of-the-box idea for Thoroughbred racing: Always bet the longshot. What else is life for?

Other sports/teams I follow: Los Angeles Lakers!

My favorite athlete of all-time: Kobe Bryant

What book(s) I am reading or have recently read: "Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World" by Haruki Murakami, and "In Defense of Lost Causes" by Slavoj Zizek.

Favorite magazine: New Yorker

Railbirds. (ABR Films)

Hobbies away from Thoroughbred racing: I run a table top board game night called the LGC. We cohost a podcast on the subject as well called Dice Tower News. Currently we're playing Viticulture, Zombicide: Black Plague and Race for the Galaxy.

Favorite movies: The Matrix, V for Vendetta and Parasite.

Favorite TV shows I watch: “True Detective” and “Six Feet Under.”

Favorite foods: Pizza all day everyday. Best pizza place in Los Angeles is Village Pizzeria on Larchmont. Steve runs it. Tell him I sent you.

Favorite vacation spot: Wherever there are piña coladas and beach space.

Favorite musician/band: Currently listening to The Glitch Mob and Gorillaz.

Favorite Actor: Gale Hansen, #CarpeDiem

Top websites I visit daily: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Deadline Hollywood, IMDb, Variety Insight, Studio System, my email account and that's pretty much it.
