Tacos and Trifectas: Castañeda’s and an El Camino Real Longshot

Events / Travel

Welcome to Tacos and Trifectas! Each week, America’s Best Racing’s Southern California correspondent Jose Contreras - @LosPonies to those who follow him on Twitter - will provide a taco review along with a selection that he will key in trifecta bets in hopes of winning some cash to buy more tacos! Contreras will map out a trifecta betting strategy for how to key his main pick and keep track of his return on investment (ROI).

Stop back if you love tacos and want to get a trifecta play!

This week’s trifecta key:

Saturday, Feb. 26

Golden Gate Fields, Race 7, $100,000 El Camino Real Derby, 6:54 p.m. ET

#10 Knight’s Cross (20-1 odds): Has improved since returning from a short break. In both of his last two starts he showed improvement in the way he responds when his rider asks him find some more. He lost a tough photo for the win but he was still over five lengths clear of the third-place finisher last time out. I think he can make an impact here if he makes any kind of improvement since his last race.

Strategy on $100 Budget:

$.50 Cent Trifecta: 10 with 2,3,4,5,6,7,9,12 with 2,3,4,5,6,7,9,12 ($28)

$.50 Cent Trifecta: 2,3,4,5,6,7,9,12 with 10 with 2,3,4,5,6,7,9,12 ($28)

$.50 Cent Trifecta: 2,3,4,5,6,7,9,12 with 2,3,4,5,6,7,9,12 with 10 ($28)

$16 Win on #10 Knight’s Cross
