Sparky Ville, a Candy Ride gelding owned by Del Secco DCS Racing and trained by Jeff Bonde, won his second career start at Santa Anita Park in June 2018 and then was elevated immediately to graded stakes company, running a distant second to Instagrand in the Best Pal Stakes and then last of six in the Del Mar Futurity.
Sparky Ville, a Candy Ride gelding owned by Del Secco DCS Racing and trained by Jeff Bonde, won his second career start at Santa Anita Park in June 2018 and then was elevated immediately to graded stakes company, running a distant second to Instagrand in the Best Pal Stakes and then last of six in the Del Mar Futurity. He rebounded with a win in a listed stakes at Santa Anita in late October, and then ran a good third in the Bob Hope Stakes behind Mucho Gusto and Savagery at Del Mar’s fall meeting before closing out his juvenile campaign with a sixth-place finish in another listed event at Santa Anita.
The gelding returned to the track for his 3-year-old campaign on Feb. 10, 2019, in the seven-furlong Grade 2 San Vicente Stakes, and scored a 7.40-1 upset over second betting choice Dessman and odds-on favorite Coliseum with a rallying nose win.
