Pass the Hat, a son of Collected, debuted in 2023 at age 2 and won his second start, a seven-furlong dirt race at Ellis Park, but was then sidelined for just over two years and returned in July 2025 during the Saratoga meet. He ran second in his comeback and after three more starts without a win notched his second career victory on turf on Jan. 3, 2026, taking a 1 1/16-mile allowance at Gulfstream Park.

The Bill Mott trainee raced twice more on grass during spring 2026, finishing a close fourth and then winning a one-mile Aqueduct allowance, and then made his stakes debut in the Grade 3, one-mile Poker Stakes June 7 at Saratoga.
With John Velazquez riding for the first time, 5-year-old Pass the Hat posted a game nose victory over stablemate Capitol Hill at odds of 10.39-1.
Pass the Hat is out of the unraced Mizzen Mast mare Veronique and is a half-brother to stakes winner Nashville, with Kentucky Derby winner Giacomo another notable relative.
