Adrian Wallace of Ashford Stud discussed American Pharoah’s history-making Triple Crown and looked ahead to this year’s Derby, in which Japanese star Luxor Café and Arkansas Derby runner-up Publisher will represent American Pharoah in the starting gate.
Luxor Café was born on the grounds at Ashford and profiles as one of the leading contenders for the 1 ¼-mile classic as he enters on a four-race winning streak. Forever Young, also from Japan, finished third in the 2024 Kentucky Derby and that country appears to be knocking on the door of its first win in North America’s signature race.
