J. Kent Sweezey

Kent Sweezey grew up on Darby Dan Farm in Central Kentucky, where his father Wayne was general manager, and spent time with all aspects of the operation. Kent's parents then started Timber Town Stable, where Kent helped out until he was lured away to work for trainer Christophe Clement at Payson Park in Florida.

Sweezey then spent time under trainer Eoin Harty in California before returning east to work as an assistant to trainer Jimmy Jerkens. While working for Jerkens, Sweezey gained experience with Grade 1 winners such as Shaman Ghost, Effinex, V. E. Day and Wicked Strong as well as top-class sprinter Unified.

Sweezey began training on his own in Kentucky in spring 2017, also spending time at Saratoga in the summer and Florida in the winter.
