Illinois native Chris Block became interested in horses at an early age and followed along during his childhood years as his father David owned horses. Block studied equine management in college and worked during summers with Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott.
Block got his trainer’s license in 1988 and soon became a leading conditioner on the Midwest circuit, managing his father’s Team Block stable and operating out of Arlington International Racecourse in suburban Chicago. He won his first graded stakes in 2001 with Ioya Two.
