Top-tier graded stakes action across the country last week reshaped the Equibase leaderboard, particularly in the 3-year-old divisions.

Saturday’s card at Gulfstream Park featured eight graded stakes races including the Grade 2 Coolmore Fountain of Youth Stakes on the Road to the Kentucky Derby and the Grade 2 Davona Dale Stakes Presented by Inglis Digital USA on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks. Oaklawn Park and Aqueduct added further depth to the weekend with their own key Oaks and Derby preps, highlighted by the final running of the historic Grade 3 Gotham Stakes at the “Big A” and a thrilling renewal of the $1 million Rebel Stakes, which capped the weekend on Sunday in Arkansas.

The Fountain of Youth at Gulfstream came down to a stretch duel between Commandment and Chief Wallabee, with Commandment narrowly prevailing by a neck under Irad Ortiz Jr. to earn 50 Kentucky Derby qualifying points and the lion’s share of the $400,000 purse. An Into Mischief colt trained by Brad Cox, Commandment now has back-to-back stakes wins at Gulfstream in his 3-year-old campaign. With $329,220 in 2026 earnings, Commandment moved into third in the 3-year-old male division and seventh overall while his 50 points place him fourth on the Kentucky leaderboard.

The Rebel at Oaklawn also delivered an unforgettable stretch run between two promising young colts, separated by just a nose in a photo finish. Class President, by Uncle Mo, re-rallied on the rail to prevail at 8.50-1 odds by the slimmest of margins over Silent Tactic. Class President started his 3-year-old season with a runner-up finish in the Swale Stakes before earning his first career graded stakes win in the Rebel in his two-turn debut. With $569,700 in earnings in 2026, Class President moved into second among 3-year-old males and third in the overall standings. With the 50 points earned in the Rebel, Class President is now third on the Kentucky Derby leaderboard.

While Silent Tactic finished second by just a nostril in the Rebel, he is now the new leader in the 3-year-old male division and second overall with $721,250 in 2026 earnings, with Skippylongstocking the only horse ahead by purse money. Silent Tactic also ranks second on the Kentucky Derby leaderboard.

Following a runner-up finish in the NetJets Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies in October, Explora has returned as a 3-year-old in top form, dominating the Santa Ynez Stakes by 5 ¼ before finishing second in the Fasig-Tipton Las Virgenes Stakes in February. In the Honeybee Stakes Sunday at Oaklawn, she lived up to her odds-on favoritism with a three-quarter-length victory after taking command at the top of the stretch. The Blame filly is the new leader in the 3-year-old filly division and moved into sixth overall with $496,250 in 2026 earnings. Explora also is dominating the Kentucky Oaks leaderboard with a total 95 points following her 50-point victory in the Honeybee.

Calumet Farm homebred She Be Smooth romped by six lengths Davona Dale Stakes at Gulfstream Park, a qualifying race for the Kentucky Oaks. She Be Smooth previously won her career debut at Gulfstream on Jan. 23. Saturday’s win moved her into sixth place in the 3-year-old filly division and 30th overall with $162,320 in earnings. She picked up 50 Kentucky Oaks points from the Davona Dale and is now fourth on the Oaks leaderboard.

Lush Lips earned the highest Equibase Speed Figure of any horse in North America last week, posting her second consecutive 112 figure in the Grade 3 Honey Fox Stakes Presented by MyRacehorse under Tyler Gaffalione, who had three graded stakes wins on the turf Saturday at Gulfstream.
