all in Breeders' Cup

As Wade Phillips has spent a career coaching in the National Football League, including stints as head coach for three different teams and serving as defensive coordinator for the 2016 Super Bowl winning-Denver Broncos, he knows all about the anticipation ahead of a big sporting event.

Horse racing’s World Championship week has arrived, and the eyes of the sport will all be focused in on picturesque Del Mar in southern California, where the 41st Breeders’ Cup will be held on Friday, Nov. 1, and Saturday, Nov. 2.

It’s been a long time coming and now that the moment is here, owner Lawrence Goichman couldn’t be more thrilled about participating in his first Breeders’ Cup as owner, with a homebred no less.

A truly international affair became even more international this year when the Breeders’ Cup meeting attracted a record-breaking 80 international pre-entries Oct. 23, 20 more than the previous record.

It’s thrilling when two horses duel down the stretch, especially in a million-dollar race! Last year, the determined Big Invasion finished second in the 16th running of the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint by a “diminishing neck” to Nobals. But that’s not the end of the story!
