The Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic never disappoints when it comes to attracting the world’s best horses. But this year, in particular, it is truly an international classic.

The “Future Stars Friday” card at Del Mar offers racing fans a glimpse of the next generation of Thoroughbreds and the gravity of the $2 million Grade 1 FanDuel Breeders’ Cup Juvenile presented by TAA extends beyond race day.

The Grade 1, $7 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic brings together a full field of 14 plus one also eligible to Del Mar on Nov. 2, and includes 11 horses with Grade 1 or Group 1 stakes wins in their careers.

NBC Sports will provide extensive coverage of the 41st Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Del Mar on Nov. 1-2. The season-culminating event features 14 races worth more than $34 million in purses and awards.

A job for three summers at the Virginia Racing Commission while Courtney Reid was still a student at James Madison University introduced her to the world of horse racing, something she knew little about other than watching the Kentucky Derby on TV. But Reid, who graduated from college in 2012 with a degree in science and psychology and later received a masters in public health from Liberty University, was so drawn in by horse racing she pursued it as her career of choice.
