Anyone who watched the 2022 Breeders’ Cup World Championships in person or on TV will always remember the Longines Classic first. A truly grand finale, the last of 14 World Championship races was a display of racing brilliance, as undefeated Flightline closed out his career with an 8 ¼-length runaway win.

For the fourth year in a row more than 200 pre-entries have been accepted for the Breeders’ Cup World Championships.

Connections of top Thoroughbreds from around the globe have declared their intention to compete in the Breeders’ Cup Oct. 31-Nov. 1 at Del Mar, with 207 pre-entries recorded this week for the international festival of racing. That number is down slightly from the 212 entered last year, also at Del Mar.

Breeders’ Cup Ltd. today unveiled the official race order, post times, and wagering menu for the 42nd Breeders’ Cup World Championships Oct. 31-Nov. 1 at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club in Del Mar, Calif. 

The 2025 Breeders’ Cup World Championships marks the 42nd year the best Thoroughbreds in North America meet up to compete in races that usually determine divisional championships at the Eclipse Awards.

Activity in the horse racing world is ramping up this week in advance of the 42nd Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Del Mar on Oct. 31-Nov. 1. Pre-entries for the Breeders’ Cup will be drawn Wednesday, Oct. 22, at noon ET/9 a.m.
