It was quite the week in North American racing, highlighted by DraftKings Travers Stakesday at Saratoga Race Course that featured an incredible five Grade 1 races. Five Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” Challenge Series races from coast-to-coast on Saturday, plus opening weekend at Kentucky Downs with its rich purse structure, shook up the Equibase leaderboard. Eight horses moved into the top 50, including new leaders in the 2-year-old divisions and the older female division.

Leading Change rallied to a 10.38-1 upset in the 157^th running of the Travers Stakes at Saratoga for trainer Brad Cox. Under a perfectly timed ride by Manny Franco, Leading Change was able to surge past a game Napoleon Solo to win this year’s “Mid-Summer Derby.” Leading Change, a Gun Runner colt, won his career debut just 83 days prior to the Travers on June 7 in a maiden special weight race at Churchill Downs. He then became a graded stakes winner with a narrow victory in the Grade 3 Indiana Derby on July 11. With an undefeated 3-for-3 record and $934,196 in 2026 earnings, Leading Change rose to seventh among 3-year-old males and 21^st on the overall Equibase leaderboard by purse earnings.

Seneca Park became the new 2-year-old filly leader and the first stakes winner by Golden Pal on Sunday at Kentucky Downs with a narrow victory in the $750,000 Untapable Stakes for trainer Dallas Stewart. Seneca Park won her career debut by four lengths in a 5 ½-furlong turf sprint at Ellis Park on Aug. 7 before going gate-to-wire just three weeks later in the Untapable under Brian Hernandez Jr. With $502,318 in earnings, Seneca Park ranks 68^th on the overall leaderboard while claiming the top slot in the juvenile filly division.

Mid American, a 2-year-old colt by Epicenter, became the first stakes winner for his sire Aug. 29 at Kentucky Downs. The chestnut colt took command at the top of the stretch in the Keeneland Sales Kentucky Downs Juvenile Sprint Stakes and held on for a three-quarter-length victory under Jaime Torres for trainer James DiVito. Mid American finished a distant seventh in his career debut in a dirt sprint at Ellis Park but broke his maiden by 3 ¼ lengths 23 days later when switching to the turf Aug. 9 at Ellis. Now 2-for-2 on grass with $495,821 in earnings, Mid American is the new leader among 2-year-old males and ranks 70^th on the overall leaderboard.

A new leader emerged in the older female division on Saturday, also after a victory at Kentucky Downs. In Our Time, a 5-year-old by Not This Time trained by Saffie Joseph Jr., proved much the best in the Grade 1 Never Say Die Kentucky Downs Ladies Turf Sprint, pulling away to win by 3 ½ lengths under Micah Husbands. In Our Time earned more than $1 million for the win and now has $1,993,305 in career earnings. The Ladies Turf Sprint was her second graded stakes victory of the year and she is now first in the older female division and among the top 10 overall in ninth place with $1,301,213 in 2026 earnings.

Arguably the best performance of the weekend came on the Travers Stakes undercard in the Grade 1 H. Allen Jerkens Memorial Stakes. Englishman, who tied the seven-furlong track record of 1:20.40 when winning the Woody Stephens Stakes Presented by Mohegan Sun June 6, made it 2-for-2 on the Saratoga main track with a 3 ¾-length victory in the H. Allen Jerkens for trainer Cherie DeVaux. Under Jose Ortiz, Englishman covered seven furlongs in 1:20.71, less than a fifth of a second off the stakes record of 1:20.54 set by Runhappy in 2015. The 3-year-old Maxfield colt is 3-for-4 in 2026 with back-to-back Grade 1 wins and $725,200 in earnings this year. Englishman ranks 12^th among 3-year-old males and 32^nd overall on the Equibase leaderboard. He earned a 118 Equibase Speed Figure  for the H. Allen Jerkens victory.

The highest winning Equibase Speed Figure of the week came from the Grade 2 Del Mar Handicap Presented by the Japan Racing Association as Test Score earned a 119 for his narrow victory under Juan Hernandez. Test Score, a 4-year-old Lookin At Lucky colt, earned an automatic berth to the Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf with the win for trainer Graham Motion. Test Score started his 4-year-old campaign with a win in the Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational Stakes. After three subsequent defeats, Test Score’s trip to Del Mar proved to be a successful one and he now rates 11^th among older males and 22^nd overall with $920,500 in 2026 earnings.

Klaravich Stables moved past perennial leader Godolphin to take the leading owner spot after enjoying a huge Travers day with wins by Fully Subscribed and Ways and Means in the Grade 1 Personal Ensign Stakes and Grade 1 Resorts World Casino Ballerina Stakes, respectively. Klaravich, with 2026 earnings of $6,608,203, joins Godolphin as the only owners to surpass $6 million in earnings this year.

Flavien Prat continues to gain on Jose Ortiz in the North American jockey standings and is now less than $1 million in earnings away from the lead. Prat led all jockeys last week by wins (15) and earnings ($2,087,357) and became the second jockey this year to surpass $27 million in 2026 North American earnings. Manny Franco moved up one spot into fourth after ending the week with $1,877,465 in earnings. After winning the Travers aboard Leading Change, Franco returned on Sunday to the Spa and picked up another four wins. He already has tripled his win total from the 2025 Saratoga meet with 62 victories this summer.

There were no changes in the top eight trainers last week with Brad Cox continuing to dominant the standings, surpassing $21 million in 2026 earnings after adding $1,346,063 to his yearly total last week.
