Thirty-three stakes races on Saturday, highlighted by graded stakes action at Fair Grounds, Turfway Park, Oaklawn Park, and Santa Anita Park, resulted in major changes on the Equibase leaderboard in the 3-year-old and older divisions.
Included among the major stakes were the first 100-point Longines Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve prep races of the season, which reshaped what the future could hold in a little more than five weeks under the Twin Spires.

Following runner-up finishes in the Leonatus Stakes and John Battaglia Memorial Stakes to start his 3-year-old campaign, Fulleffort ound the winner’s circle on Saturday at Turfway in the $777,000 Jeff Ruby Steaks and punched his ticket to the Kentucky Derby. He is now on top of the Road to the Kentucky Derby leaderboard with 110 qualifying points. The Liam’s Map colt drove clear to win by 2 ½ lengths and earned a 96 Equibase Speed Figure for trainer Brad Cox. With $507,900 in 2026 earnings, Fulleffort ranks fifth in the 3-year-old division and eighth overall.
Less than an hour after the Jeff Ruby, Emerging Market and Pavlovian put on a brilliant stretch run in the Twinspires.com Louisiana Derby at Fair Grounds with Emerging Market prevailing by a head to earn $600,000 and 100 qualifying points on the Road to the Kentucky Derby. Emerging Market improved to 2-for-2 in his career following an impressive debut win at Tampa Bay Downs in February. He ranks second on the Kentucky Derby leaderboard with 100 qualifying points for trainer Chad Brown, and with $618,880 in purse earnings ranks second among 3-year-olds and third on the overall leaderboard.
Life of Joy, a Gun runner filly trained by Cox, proved much the best in the Faig-Tipton Fair Grounds Oaks, driving clear to win by 3 ¾ lengths over heavily favored Bella Ballerina. This was Life of Joy’s first win of the year following a runner-up finish in the Suncoast Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs in February. She is now tied for third in the 3-year-old division with $260,000 in 2026 earnings and leads the Kentucky Oaks leaderboard with 122 qualifying points.
Skippylongstocking, a 7-year-old by Exaggerator, remains on top of the Equibase leaderboard by purse earnings after his dominating 5 ¼-length win in the Essex Handicap March 21 at Oaklawn Park. This was his first start since winning the G1 Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes in January and is 2-for-2 in 2026 with $1,971,000 in purse earnings.
Another 7-year-old that notched a graded stakes win over the weekend was Touchuponastar, who set a track record in his half-length victory at Fair Grounds in the New Orleans Classic Stakes Presented by Hagyard, which he won for the second consecutive year. The Star Guitar gelding went 1 1/8 miles in 1:46.84 for his fifth consecutive stakes victory. Touchuponastar is 2-for-2 in 2026 with $390,000 in earnings and moved into fourth in the older male division and 11th overall. With the win, Touchuponastar surpassed $2 million in career earnings and kept his 100% in-the-money record intact, now with 21 wins, four seconds, and two thirds from 28 starts.
Lagynos earned the highest Equibase Speed Figure of any horse in North America last week, posting a 118 for his win in the Muniz Memorial Classic Stakes Presented by Horse Racing Nation at Fair Grounds. Lagynos covered 1 1/8 miles on the turf in 1:48.17, less than a second off the course record for his second consecutive graded stakes win at Fair Grounds this year. With $305,000 in 2026 earnings, Lagynos ranks fifth among older males and 14th overall. He also surpassed $2 million in career earnings with the win.
The top three jockeys in North America remained the same, with Tyler Gaffalione in first and Flavien Prat in second, both surpassing $5 million in 2026 earnings last week. While Gaffalione still leads, Prat continues to close the gap and is now just $33,324 behind. Last week, Prat led all jockeys by earnings with $1,095,140, winning at a 33% clip with six wins. On Saturday, Prat traveled to Fair Grounds and won both the Fair Grounds Oaks and the Louisiana Derby.
On the training side, Cox, Steve Asmussen, and Saffie Joseph Jr. all surpassed $5 million in earnings last week. Brad Cox moved into first on the leaderboard, just $31,709 ahead of Asmussen. Cox ended the week with $1,105,764 in earnings and nine wins, while Asmussen led all trainers by wins with 13 while banking $943,633 in earnings.
