Lagynos won his maiden at first asking as a 2-year-old first starter on Sept. 10, 2023, at Kentucky Downs. He added an allowance win at Churchill Downs on Nov. 25 to conclude his 2-year-old season.
Lagynos raced in stakes competition on the grass all throughout his 3-year-old season in 2024 and broke through with a win on Nov. 23 with a victory in the Grade 3 $300,000 Commonwealth Turf Stakes going 1 1/18 miles at Churchill Downs. Lagynos closed from mid-pack in the Commonwealth to top a field of eight by three-quarters of a length.

Lagynos closed from mid-pack in the Commonwealth to top a field of eight by three-quarters of a length.
Lagynos earned another stakes victory as a 4-year-old in 2025 with a score in the $500,000 Tapit restricted stakes going 1 mile and 70 yards at Kentucky Downs.
The next stakes win for Lagynos came on Feb. 14, 2026, with a 2 1/4-length victory atop a highly competitive field in the Grade 3 $175,000 Fair Grounds Stakes going 1 1/8 miles on the turf at Fair Grounds.
Lagynos then put the finishing touch on a successful racing season at Fair Grounds on March 21 with another graded stakes win coming in the Grade 2 $300,000 Muniz Memorial Classic going 1 1/8 miles on the the turf, topping a field of seven by a length as the 8-5 favorite.
Lagynos maintained fine form throughout the spring season in 2026. Following the Fair Grounds, Lagynos's next stop was Churchill Downs where he added another pair of stakes triumphs to his resume. First, Lagynos captured the $349,000 Opening Verse Stakes going one mile on the turf at Churchill Downs on April 30, then he won again exactly a month later in the Grade 3 $275,000 Arlington Stakes going 1 1/16 miles on the grass by three-quarters of a length atop a nine-horse field on May 30.
Lagynos swept the entire middle-distance series of turf stakes races at the Churchill Downs spring/summer meet on June 27 when he scored ince again the Grade 2 $500,000 Wise Dan Stakes going 1 1/16 miles on the grass. Sent off as the 3-2 favorite in a nine-horse field in the Wise Dan, Lagynos took care of business with a three-quarters of a length decision for her fifth win in a row.
Lagynos is trained by Steve Asmussen. He was bred in Kentucky by the sire Kantharos out of the mare Steamy by Speightstown.
