Garamond won his career debut outing as a 3-year-old in a 6 1/2-furlong maiden race at Tampa Bay Downs on Jan. 25, 2025. From there he was sent to Aqueduct to make his second start in the Grade 3 $300,000 Gotham Stakes going one mile on March 1, and was able to finish third in a competitive nine-horse field. The Gotham was a points race on the road to the 2025 Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve, and with his third-place finish he earned 15 qualifying points.
