The end of August is traditionally one of the most active times of the year in North American Thoroughbred racing as the historic DraftKings Travers Stakes at Saratoga Race Course more often than not is held on the month’s final Saturday. That’s the case this year on Aug. 29, and the 157th Travers drew a stellar field of 3-year-olds led by Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve and Belmont Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets winner Golden Tempo.
The $1.25 million Travers headlines a Saturday card featuring five other stakes races, three of those being “Win and You’re In” preps for October’s Breeders’ Cup World Championships. FOX Sports will provide day-long coverage at the Spa with broadcasts running from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET, divided between the usual “Saratoga Live” show on FS1 and FS2 and a two-hour “Saratoga Saturdays” show on FOX featuring the Travers.
“Saratoga Live” has a five-day run this week, from Wednesday, Aug. 26, through Sunday, Aug. 30, on FOX Sports – check the below schedule for channels and times.
The other spotlight track this week is Kentucky Downs, which begins its all-turf boutique meet Saturday and also runs Sunday and then five more dates over the next two weeks. All races from Kentucky Downs will be broadcast live on FanDuel TV, which will also show live racing from Del Mar, Gulfstream Park, Charles Town (which hosts the Charles Town Classic Stakes Friday evening) and Woodbine among other tracks this week.
Horse racing from tracks around the world is available to subscribers on Racetrack Television Network (RTN), which can be livestreamed on all devices (computer, tablet and smartphone) and on TV via DISH Network, Amazon Fire and Roku.
