A native of Venezuela, Centeno has experienced periods of dominance while riding in the Mid-Atlantic and at Tampa Bay Downs (where he’s won the riding championship on a half-dozen occasions).
Centeno earned his 2,000th career win on July 28, 2014, at Parx Racing when he guided Forest Rim to a victory in the seventh race.
In 2019, Centeno guided Alwaysmining to three straight stakes wins as part of a six-race winning streak to earn consideration for the Preakness Stakes.
